Emergency information

If you are an emergency case requiring immediate attention, please call +273 341 5010 / 20. We will give you instructions and directions. If you know Midlands Medical Centre’s address (162 Masukwana Street, Pietermaritzburg), please get to us as quickly as possible. If you need a transfer to be facilitated by us, please let us know by phone.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT AN ADMISSION OR EMERGENCY CASE?

When you arrive at Midlands Medical Centre, our friendly and inviting staff will welcome you and seat you at our reception area, prior to you completing the admission paperwork. If you are an emergency case, we will examine you as quickly as possible at our Emergency and Trauma Department.

What happens if I am a new patient?

Our staff will assist you with the authorisation process that accompanies medical aid admissions. They will thereafter capture your details in rapid time, ensuring a smooth admission.

Do you have Imaging (x-rays, ultrasonography, CT-scan) facilities?

Yes.

The state of the art Radiology facility at Midlands Medical Centre, run by Jackpersad & Partners, has the capability of running ordinary x-rays, MRI’s, CT Scans, Ultrasounds and screening.

DO YOU HAVE PATHOLOGY / LAB FACILITIES?

Yes.

Four Pathology / Lab service providers are on-site to cater to your medical needs: Ampath, Flowpath, Lancet, and JDJ. In addition, Lancet runs a special Histology & Cytology Lab on-site.

Do you accept my medical aid?

Midlands Medical Centre accepts most major medical aids and their plans / options. These include (but are not limited to) Discovery, GEMS, Bonitas, Momentum, Polmed, Profmed, Medihelp, Samwumed, BestMed, Keyhealth, Medshield and Fedhealth.

An estimate of fees and costs, investigations and/or surgery are available on request.

What about Cash / Private-Paying Patients?

If you don’t have an insurance coverage, feel free to come to Midlands Medical Centre. We have affordable cash packages available for various procedures and admission-types.

Do you have parking facilities?

Yes.

Free Parking is available in front (emergencies etc.) and in our multi-level, undercover parkade accessible off the bottom end of Langalibalele Street.
